Change is coming. We’ve known it for a while but it’s coming dauntingly close as we’re now in August. As you know, Ryan was gone for the month of June and he’s doing more short stint travels in the coming weeks. We knew what we signed up for when he graciously accepted this career with SOA.
He’s worked so hard for a career instead of just a job. In today’s world, a good solid career with a company that takes great pride in taking care of their own is truly few and far between. That’s exactly what SOA is, so we’ve been keeping a good focus on how lucky we are and have rolled with the punches to help us get to the landing place. June marked the end of ever having to be 30 days without Ryan again. All the praise hands.
To celebrate this new season of things – the closing steps before he interviews for his new district, wherever that ends up in the US – I wanted to give him a gift. He’ll be doing some travels with other seasoned 30+ year veterans of the company and then he’ll be interviewing for the districts available. Remember how I told you before how much he’d been wanting a wooden watch and I gave him one?
Well, I got him a second one.
I snatched up an Ebony and Rosewood Dover from JORD. It’s not only modern and rugged looking, it also has the quality workmanship that JORD has in it’s products. Unlike his other watch, this one you can see the timepiece movements inside the watch through the face which gives it added character and a bold design element.
Because of the versatility in styles that JORD offers I love that he has his first watch that is more subtle in it’s design and his new Dover is more of a conversation starter. He got a lot of compliments on his Fieldcrest watch from JORD but since giving him his new Dover watch he has already come home and said “of any accessory or item I’ve worn I’ve never had more people talk to me about my watch! It’s happened three times around the office. They love how you can see it’s movements and can’t believe it doesn’t run on a battery.”
Hearing him say that makes me so happy. I wanted to get him a stylish, unique gift that’ll serve as a great conversation starter. He’ll be having lots of new situations and new conversations in the coming months with members within the company and it’ll be a great ice breaker. Not to mention, once we move into our new district he will be meeting a lot of new contact and people he’s never met before. Maybe it’s just me but sometimes items are easier ice breakers to chat about when in a new situation.
