Learning to Love My Hair with Nexxus

This post is sponsored by Nexxus New York Salon Care, a product of Unilever, as a part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. All opinions, photography and content is my own.

I’ve been blessed with thick and curly hair and for years it’s been a love/hate relationship.  Everyone has said how lucky I am and how gorgeous my hair is, even the stylists I’ve gone to have had hair envy time and time again. For years it was a major struggle for me. I hated my hair. For years I actually straightened it day in and day out because I just couldn’t stand it curly. There was too much maintenance, it was too” poofy” or it was too frizzy.

Three years ago I tossed my straightener and was determined to love my hair in it’s natural form.  Here’s the thing though, if you are using products that aren’t ideal for your hair type it’s not going to help. I know this from experience and it’s taken quite a bit of time for me to actually find a good product that works well with my hair and is what my hair needs. I started adding the Nexxus New York Salon Care Collection to my hair care routine and it’s helped me start to love my hair again without the constant battle.
Nexxus Joyfully Smitten _ Shampoo and Conditioner

Day-to-day life, the genetics of my hair type and nursing my son are things that impact my hair and cause dryness. It’s a nursing mother’s instincts to give extra nutrients to the baby rather than our hair which makes complete sense.  With this being the case, I have to find extra moisture elsewhere. This is where Nexxus® New York Salon Care THERAPPE & HUMECTRESS line comes in.  It’s specifically an Ultimate Moisture System for normal to dry hair.  It comes with a Nexxus® New York Salon Care THERAPPE Rebalancing Shampoo and two types of Moisturizing Conditioners -Nexxus® New York Salon Care HUMECTRESS Restoring Conditioner and Nexxus® New York Salon Care HUMECTRESS Restoring Masque.  I love that I can interchange the two as I need to because some days my hair is just drier than others.

Step Three includes two out-of-the-shower solutions, the Nexxus® New York Salon Care HUMECTRESS Encapsulate™ Serum and Nexxus® New York Salon Care HUMECTRESS LUXE Lightweight Conditioning Mist. You can use both of these at the same time or individually based on what your hair needs.   I have been using both – first the Conditioning Mist and then the Encapsulate™ Serum and working them through my hair every time I wash and am liking the results.  The Serum smoothes the hair fiber surface to bring it back to its pre-damaged state.

Once my Step Three treatments are complete I move onto my Nexxus New York Salon Care Comb Mousse Plus Volumizing Foam and Nexxus New York Salon Care Maxximum Finishing Mist. I start with the Nexxus New York Salon Care Comb Mousse Plus Volumizing Foam by working it through my hair before I use my defuser to dry my curly hair. Once my hair is defused, I then use the  Nexxus New York Salon Care Maxximum Finishing Mist to really give it a gentle hold.  Due to my hair type, I don’t wash my hair daily so I’m thoroughly enjoying the Nexxus New York Salon Care Dry Shampoo Refreshing Mist. It is also great for adding additional texture to my hair.

Nexxus New York Salon Care has customizable hair care lines that are perfect for your hair type and needs! My hair is struggling with moisture, as well as, it’s course and I fight a lot of frizz; because of that I’m considering adding Nexxus® New York Salon Care OIL INFINITE to my hair care to work in tandem with the Nexxus® New York Salon Care THERAPPE & HUMECTRESS line I’m currently using. If you struggle with severly damaged hair, the  Nexxus® New York Salon Care EMERGENCÉE™ will likely be a great fit for you!

You can see their full line of products on their website, as well as, connect with Nexxus New York Salon Care on Instagram, Twitter ,and Facebook!
