As B grows older – he’s turning a year this weekend – it’s also means we are starting to hit all of those milestones including him wanting to be more like us and also eating more of the food that we do. He’s still nursing and will be until he makes the choice to wean but it’s so important to let him eat food on his own. He isn’t a picky eater thus far and is eager to try new foods all the time. As eager as he is, I’m still very cautious about what I’m feeding my little ones. I love sticking to foods that are raw and I know exactly what is in them such as fruits and veggies for snack time.
I’m still the same way with A and she’s three and a half. We just feel like it’s very important to give them food that not only they enjoy eating but that their bodies with enjoy and use as well. When it comes to store bought snacks I read a lot of labels making sure I’m not fueling their bodies with a bunch of preservatives and empty carbs.
This last week when I went grocery shopping to our local store at King Soopers, I snatched up some Lil’ Beanies by Gerber. They come in Original and White Cheddar & Broccoli. I read through the ingredients and I liked what I saw. These Gerber Lil Beanies have 2 grams of protein (9% Daily Value) and 1 gram of fiber per serving. These snacks are also not made with genetically engineered (GM) ingredients which is also important to me. Every ingredient on the list is something that I know which eases my fears of what I’m feeding him. Not to mention, they are made with Navy Beans.
I decided we would give Lil’ Beanies a try and see if B likes them and it turns out both of my kids love them. Typically I encourage A to eat other snacks because she can eat more things than B can but with these I don’t mind because she’s getting a quality snack just the same with the 2g of protein and the 1g of fiber from the beans plus they are affordable! They think it’s a lot of fun to eat the same fun snacks together.
I also really love that these don’t melt or make a large mess when he’s eating them and if I turn my back for a moment to finish something up I know he won’t choke because of the texture. Obviously I also keep a watchful eye anyways but it’s a great perk. It also makes it a safer snack for longer trips in the car for the kids to share which I really love.
If you are looking for a great, safe snack that you can feel good about feeding your kids I really recommend the Original and White Cheddar & Broccoli Lil’ Beanies by Gerber. You can find them at your local King Soopers, or likely any other grocery store that you are shopping at. They are delicious, nutritious and my kids love them – that’s a win-win in my book!
What are some great snack options that you love to feed your little ones?
These are good! I was happy to find them. My daughter has been very picky (especially compared to her older brother) so it’s a relief to find another snack option she will eat.
