I love any excuse I get to celebrate Ryan and let him know how much I appreciate him. Now that we have kids I get the extra excuse to celebrate him for Father’s Day and get the kids in on it. You guys, he is the best dad. There is zero doubt that he loves his kids and is invested deeply in each of them. There is no doubt that our kids will grow up knowing that they are loved by their dad. You have no idea how happy that makes me. Sadly Ryan will be traveling for Father’s Day this year but we decided to celebrate early which is why I get to bring you today’s post because he got his gifts last weekend so I get to include them in this week’s post.
I put together a list of gift ideas that I know Ryan has loved getting from us, so I can’t wait to share our ideas with you. Ryan is the kind of guy that works on cars but also works a corporate job, so he’s a man that wears many hats so sometimes finding something he will love can make us really think hard on something he will love and enjoy. We hope the Dad in your life will love these gift ideas, too!
JORD Watches – $129-$395
You’ve heard me talk about JORD before and I couldn’t help but make sure Ryan had one of these for Father’s Day. They are perfect for every dad on your list no matter if it’s more of a blue collar or white collar kind of dad because they are modern, versatile and cutting edge. I had been eyeing these watches for a couple of months and almost got him one for his birthday and in a conversation about my own watch I learned he had been wanting a wood watch and it made me laugh at how well I know my own husband. We’d never talked about it but he’d been wanting one. Naturally, I couldn’t resist getting him one for Father’s Day. Since we had the conversation and I wanted to make sure he loved it I told him to pick out one that he liked -he picked the Fieldcrest Dark – and also had it sized to his wrist so it was a perfect fit. I love that JORD lets you get it sized and they also come with a 1 year warranty.
Leather Arrow Cuff by Melody Joy Designs– $24
I got one of these for Ryan’s Christmas present in 2014 unsure of if he would even wear it. It was different than anything else I had even gotten him before and that he had even expressed interest in wearing before. He loved it at first sight and he’s literally on his second bracelet because he wears it every single day. We misplaced the first one so I ordered a new one because he was so bummed that he lost it. It literally never leaves him arm. It has two arrows to represent our children inspired by Psalm 127:4 – “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth”. Father’s Day deadline is June 1 so get your orders in!
DAD Shirt by The Blue Envelope – $30
I found these on Instagram and fell in love instantly. I originally discovered this brand and the Mama shirts but when I saw the DAD one come onto my feed two weeks ago I had to order one immediately. I purchased a “Daddy established in 2012” shirt in 2013 for his first Father’s Day and it’s literally one of his favorite shirts so I had to get him another shirt for his first Father’s Day of being a dad to two little ones. The DAD is made up of words that describe a dad and I love it so much. They also have one that says PAPA. You can save 15% on your first order when you sign up for their newsletter.
A Gift Sets with Hickory Farms – $16-$210
They say a man stomach is the way to his heart or something like that and if the dad or grandpa on your list is a food guy then a gift set with Hickory Farms is an awesome gift for dad. Hickory Farms is one of our partners here at Joyfully Smitten and I can’t say enough about them. We’ve tried both of the Summer Sausage and Cheese Gift Box ($36) and the Festive Cheese Sampler ($26) and I highly recommend them both. They have so many options for every price point. They also have a Father’s Day gift idea section.
A Homemade Craft
We do a lot of crafts around here and Ryan loves getting something that our little ones have made. Little hand foot or footprint crafts are treasured around here because they freeze time a little bit, a reminder that they were once smaller than they are today and all the adventures and time that have led to this point. This one is still a favorite that we made. A homemade card for Dad is always such a sweet gesture too! The kids make Ryan one every year and he always saves them or hangs them in the garage next to his tool box.
A Gift Card for Coffee
Ryan travels for work and sometimes he finds himself in a coffee shop using their WiFi to get some work done while he’s traveling or before he heads home for the day so he can full be present at home and not stressing about work. I also know how much Ryan doesn’t like splurging on himself so a gift card to either Starbucks or another local coffee shop that he’ll be around gives him to excuse for a little treat while he works. After all, he’s there working to help support us at home, right?
Home Brewing Kit for the Beer Lover
I gave Ryan a home brew kit for his birthday last year and he loved it. He loves craft beer and I decided what better gift for a beer lover than the ability to craft his own at home. It was a total surprise and not something he would have ever bought for himself. I love watching him grow in his hobby and drink his own beer. We got this BSG Brew Equipment kit* and these Brewers Best Kits for ingredients* and they’ve been great!
A Group Photo of the Family or Just the Kids.
If it wasn’t for having the kiddos, you wouldn’t be celebrating Father’s Day, right? A nice surprise photo of the kids is a perfect gift for Dad for him to hang on to and either hang at the office or take with him while he travels. You can buy a nice frame or you can help the kids make or paint one!
A Kid-less Date
I know what you are thinking…”but it’s Father’s Day not our anniversary” and that’s very true but since you had kids you probably get a little less one-on-one time together could use a little date. Your husband might just miss you more than you think through this busy season of parenting. You don’t even have to go somewhere and get a sitter unless you want to either. You can do one at home like we did a couple of months ago with DateBox (you can also still use Smitten25 to get 25% off your subscription). Just set a little time for just the two of you to enjoy each other!
Which of these items would the Dad or Granddad on your list love? Do you have any great Father’s Day plans?
Both JORD Wood Watches and Hickory Farms supplied their products to be included in the photos of this post. Even if they hadn’t we would be recommended them to you for this post because they are both brands that we love and stand behind.
What a great list! I LOVE that watch, and the picture idea is perfection.
