DIY: Nesting Mama Gift Basket

I was thinking the other afternoon about all of the pregnant women I know, or know of, and coincidentally I was about to get get ready for the Free Everyday Luxuries Set I’m sharing with you this week. I had a “lightbulb moment” about a unique gift idea that is a bit out of the norm but is sure to not be a duplicate gift for any pregnant girl friends.

Anyone who has been pregnant or has been around a pregnant woman right until the end knows that it comes with a variety of stages including the “nesting” stage where the expecting mother is rearranging all the things, doing the laundry and making sure all of the drawers are filled with clothes and diapers are stocked. All the surfaces are cleaned several times so that she knows that the baby will be brought into a clean environment and the hospital bag is packed for the moment it’s go time.

How perfect would a “Nesting” Gift Basket be?!
Nesting Gift Basket for Expecting Mothers! A super sweet gesture filled with items for nesting, for her hospital bag and just to make her feel special.

Here’s what you’ll need:

A Basket
You could use a gift bag but honestly, why wouldn’t you spend the few extra dollars for your friend to use in her nursery for that baby?

Cleaning Supplies that are safe and effective
Your friend will be cleaning everywhere and anywhere that she thinks the baby will be around, she’s going to want to make sure they are safe for baby. Include: Surface Cleaners, Bathroom Cleaners, Dish Soap (for the awesome support she’ll have helping clean up from suppers after baby, right?).

Hand Soap
You know that whether your friend is at the hospital or at home she’s going to want to keep her hands clean around baby and want the same of anyone who is around that baby. Why not make her feel even lovelier by giving her a delicious smelling hand soap?!  Mrs. Meyers Spring Peony is phenomenal.

Tissues
Whether its the emotional swings of the tail end of pregnancy or the dozen are emotional moments after baby arrives – have her covered with a box of tissues.

Facial Wipes
After delivery the new mom is going to want to freshen up but getting right into the bathroom might not happen, especially if she had a c-section – facial wipes will save the day. They will also make her feel wonderful and fresh once she gets home and she’s been snuggling the sweet baby all day and didn’t make it to the shower.

Lip Balm
Lip balm is a wonderful thing to have on hand – at any time really – but it’s a sweet pick me up for your friend to have hydrated smooth lips to make her feel even better.

A Candle
Whether it’s that you friend could enjoy the relaxation while soaking in those last quiet moments before baby arrives or that she will want a more comfortable, welcoming atmosphere at the hospital or birthing center a candle is a great gesture. Make sure it’s a quality candle that won’t release metal or toxins in the air too.

A Gift For Baby
She’s going to love the gestures that you are putting in the basket already but she’s going to love it just a tad more if you toss is something for baby too. Make it simple – a baby blanket, a baby stuffed animal or a little onesie.

A Coupon for You To Clean Her House
This is totally optional, obviously – but it’s a super kind gesture to offer for her to relax with the baby a couple of weeks after she’s had the baby and you know she’ll be ready for a cleaner house but rather have a nap.

I know what you are thinking…this is really going to add up.  And it normally would, I know. Normally it would around $75-$85 for a good basket full of items, right? Well considering the Free Everyday Luxuries Set is what sparked this idea, it’s what is going to actually save the day. With the promotion right now for everything I mentioned you would only spend $26.06 on the supplies, around $5 for the basket and let’s say $10 for the baby gift. That means you are sitting right around $40 for a special gift that you know for sure no one else has thought to give her.

Here’s the actual breakdown of everything I mentioned for the gift basket, ready to go for you when you get the Free Everyday Luxuries Set:

I would have been really pleasantly surprised had a gotten a little care basket like this when I was pregnant with either one of my babes. Even more so? I would have loved that my friend went out of her way to think about the little details like soap that might make me feel extra pampered and cleaning products that were safe for my kids. That’s me personally though.

Tell me what you think: Would you have loved to get a thoughtful gift basket like this or not so much?  What is a gift you wish you would have gotten when you were pregnant?

Quick reminder: There’s only a limited quantity of the Free Everyday Luxuries Sets and offer is only available through Sunday 5/24/16
