Recently, my mom invited us up to Longmont where they live for a picnic and evening at the park. When I moved out here over 8.5 years ago, I never thought they would end up here and then a few years after me, my stepdad got a job here and out they came too. Being 45 minutes away and having a crazy schedule of their own we don’t get to see them very often or as much as we would like to, I know that’s the case for both parties. We try to get together but it usually doesn’t sync up. So, when they invited us up for a picnic and an evening outside, we made sure to make it happen. When Ryan got his job at SoA and we realized how different our life will be in just a short year or two from now, knowing we will have to move elsewhere at some point spending time with family now became such an important thing to us. Sure, we will travel and I’m sure family will too – but being this close, right now – it’s pretty priceless, so we are taking advantage of it when we can.
We met them at the park for a picnic filled with yummy food, conversations, A reaching across the tables for high-fives accompanied by “wahooos”, and hours of playtime. A had so much fun with playing with her “Aunt Kyee” and her Oma and Opa. They equally loved her quirky little personality and how much she had grown and changed since the last time we had gotten together.
It’s so fun getting together with them because my sister is experiencing seeing A grow and change just as I watched her. She’s younger than I was when she was growing before my eyes but their sweet little bond is so cute.
After our evening at the park we headed to their house for dessert and A’s Easter egg hunt. So cute!
I’m soaking in these little moments that we get with family right now.
