It’s been busy around here lately, with the new house, toddlerhood and the holiday whirlwind just around the corner. Around here it’s been productive. My laundry room is fully functional, the garage has both cars in it now and the basement is clean and open for the optimal place to play. It’s interesting getting settled and adjusted in a new place – trying systems that you think might work only to realize they need something tweaking to make life just a bit easier. The large projects around here are done which is a real weight off of our shoulders. Now it’s just time for the little, simple desires we have for the house. We are finally getting organized around here though which makes me super duper happy because when it’s chaos I feel like my mind is chaos. Ryan has seriously been such a rockstar helping me get organized around here. We get so much more done on the weekends.
A is potty trained now, we are officially out of diapers and she is rocking it. We started a couple weeks ago and here we are. She was super interested around 18 months but I didn’t want to push because it felt so early to me, so she would go sometimes and then we moved and everything was put on a hiatus. There was no real good way to potty train a toddler in the chaos of moving, renovating and getting settled into a new house. A few weeks ago I started getting her to go again. I cut out a ton of stickers, put them in a box and created a “big girl potty chart” and told her once we filled it up we would go buy big girl panties. She filled her first chart (of 42!) up in a week and then the second one not too far afterwards. She was so excited when we got to the store. She wouldn’t just pick out one pair we ended up with two but couldn’t tell her no. She transitioned surprisingly well and there’s no looking back. Yay!!
I’m making A’s costume this year, so I’m kind of excited about that. I’m also kind of nervous because I’m winging it. It’ll be fine I’m sure. The holidays are so much more fun now that I’m a mama, we did window clings and make construction paper bats, pumpkins and ghosts. Oh and pumpkin muffins – alright cupcakes? But I feel better calling them muffins. I saw this super cute clementine pumpkins with celery stems but let’s be real – she would end up eating them. Ha. We’ll be carving pumpkins this week too and of course, trick or treating on Thursday night.
Then it’s on to birthday invitations and planning because A seriously turns two in 3 weeks. It’s unreal how fast time flies. I have so many fun ideas for her party, I just love being able to spoil this sweet girl and make her day super fun. We had a great time last year. We don’t have a ton of friends around here so it’ll just be family, which is great! It’ll be fun, laid back and full of celebrating our sweet girl.
Then it’s on to Thanksgiving. Phew. I’m tired just thinking about all this. 😉
What have you been up to lately?!
