I’m far from a fashion blogger or a beauty blogger, most days I wing it – I wouldn’t call myself fashionable- after all, I wear crocs to the mailbox much to my husband’s dismay and I pretty much live in the same 10 shirts from week to week. But, I did think it would be fun to share my favorite beauty must-haves for the summer. Over the years I have tried a variety of products and figured out what has worked for me and what doesn’t.
So, today I’m going to share with you my Summer Must Haves – for both hair and for skin.
For Skin:
Nourishingly Natural’s CLEAR Moisturizer – $17. This product is light and makes my face feel so soft. It’s natural and gentle and the fragrance is minimal so it’s perfect for me, as I’m sensitive to smells. USE CODE: IndieLove for 15% off your purchase
Mary Kay Eye Primer – $12. Eye shadow that gets clumpy in your creases is annoying and tacky looking, am I right? Yuck. This eye primer makes sure that doesn’t happen. I’ve worn it on the hottest of days where I’m gross and sweaty and my eye shadow stays in place. Hallelujah!
Mary Kay Foundation Primer – $16. I use Mineral Powder foundation because I like the way it looks and the way it feels on my face. This primer helps me maintain my look with a even, long lasting look that is perfect for hot summer days.
Mary Kay Eye Make Up Remover – $15. Stinging eyes are not my cup of tea and for the longest time I hated removing my make-up for that reason. Mary Kay’s eye make up remover is gentle, has no burn and takes my make up right off.
Coppertone® Clearly Sheer – Approx $6.50. Coppertone® Travel Size Continuous Spray – Approx $7.00 . – I had the opportunity to try both of these thanks to BzzAgent and I adore them. I can’t use them on my face because they don’t break out my skin and my face is protected from burns and potential sun spots. It’s a little higher in price than most but it’s so light weight I can wear it right under my make up and feel protected. Also – it’s waterproof for 80 minutes.
Chin Up Buttercup Mirror – $14. – I know this doesn’t TECHNICALLY count as a skin care product but this mirror is my favorite compact to stick in my bag out, I can check make-up, etc. on the go plus the vinyl saying on the inside in completely customization.
TimeWise® Microdermabrasion Set (not pictured) – $50 – this set is pricey, but it leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth. It’s not something I use daily but usually once a week so I can ration it out and make it last a bit longer. A little bit goes a long way and it makes my face feel fabulous.
For Hair:
I don’t use all of these every single day, I use what I need on the specific day based on humidity and what my hair is doing. All of these products are under or around $4 at your local store.
Aussie Instant Free Sculpting Mousse – I’m a huge fan of Aussie
Garnier Fructis Marvelous Oil, Frizz Defy – This leaves my hair with less frizz without feeling like my hair looks like it it’s oily and gross. It’s light-weight and I feel good about putting it in my hair. I use it when my hair is wet or dry.
Suave Dry Shampoo – Some people love dry shampoo and others hate it. While I definitely don’t use dry shampoo daily, it’s great to use when I feel like my hair is being a little oily at the root. It doesn’t end up “cake-y” and works quickly and leaves it feeling great. I love Kenra’s Dry Shampoo but it’s much more expensive. Suave is my favorite Dry Shampoo – especially for the price.
Garnier Fructis – Curl Shaping Spray Gel – I love that I can spritz this in my hair and get a good hold without my hair feeling ultra crispy and hard. It got a flexible hold and does a good job for being a product under $4.
Garnier Fructis – Cream Gel – this cream gel does great defining my curl without me feeling like I have a ton of goop in my hair. It’s flexible and easy to use and easy to distribute evenly.
Diffuser (not pictured) – price varies – I love my diffuser because it helps dry my hair and set my products, while giving my hair even volume. I use low/medium heat to decrease frizz and tip my head to the right, left, front and back several times to get it closer to being dry and the shape I want.
I originally posted this over at The Beauty Daily, but thought it was a fun post to post here, as well.
