Schick Hydro Silk

Recently this little starter kit arrived in my mailbox and I got to try out the Schick Hydro Silk.

I recently got to try out a competitors razor based on another campaign I was one. So now I can be even more educated in my feedback about this razor. Wham.

Are you excited yet?

So here’s the skinny.

In the Schick Hydro Silk Starter Kit you receive your razor and handle, a razor holder for the shower and a replacement blade.

This is a 5 blade razor.
Is FIVE blades really necessary??
Before I got to try out the variety of fancy fun razors I’m going to be honest – some of you are going to gasp in horror at this: I would split a back of 3 blade Schick disposable razors with the hubby.
Yep – I’m cheap.
And you know what they did the trick, my legs would be shaved and smooth.
I like having smooth legs.
So with that being said – what have I gained with five blades in my razor?
Well the close smooth shave lasts a bit longer, it’s true.
So do we NEED five blades? No, but it makes having about half the hassle.
Score!

The handle design is fabulous.
If you choose not to use the hanger thing – which who wouldn’t?! More on that later – it’s ergonomic handle design makes it so if you set it done in the shower the blades and moisture bar never touch the surface which ultimately makes them both last longer. Don’t believe me?
Look:

Next the moisture bar has to be Activated. I wish I could tell you it had a secret button that makes it “activate” kind of like activating a secret weapon but sadly, it does not dont get your hopes up ladies, sorry.
It does activate via the water after its under there a few moments. When I got this razor I observed this moisture bar activation process and it appears that once the bar is wet, it starts to swell on the inside making it reach the holes in the plastic portion of the bar. Pretty awesome.
In the competitors moisture bar, it’s constantly exposed so the steam of the shower is constantly effecting it which made it seem like it didn’t last quite as long.
Bummer.
And let’s talk about its special suction holder? Um, genius! The razor has its own place and in the holder the razor never touches the wall. Pretty rad friends, pretty rad.

So I guess what I’m saying is, I don’t judge you if you are like me and usually use 3 blade man razors, lets be honest the love of “saving money” usually means I’m willing to shave my legs daily for them to be smooth vs. getting the luxury of doing it every other day, but if your in the market for a new “fancier” razor – this one pulls out all the stops and has my vote.

I had the opportunity to try this razor for free by being a bzzagent. All opinions are my own, honest feedback on the product.

I have only had it fall off the wall once. Ironically it was the day you wrote this comment! I haven’t had any other problems with it though!
