Who’s the Queen of Over-Doing? Kim Is!

Hey there!  I’m Kim and I blog over at The Queen of Over-Doing; Chronically Kim.  It is my pleasure to Guest Post on Kristina’s blog today!

Besides blogging, which seems to have fallen to the wayside as of late, I own a small online business called {Sweetsie’s} Sweets & Treats.  At {Sweetsie’s} I make and create tasty cookies and treats that are delivered directly to your doorstep!  I have classic cookies like Chocolate Chip, Sugar Cookies and Snickerdoodles and also have some less than ordinary cookies such as Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies.  I also offer other treats like an array of Gourmet Chocolate Covered Pretzels.

I am new yet so I am going to offering new cookies and treats as I go so check back often!

The story behind {Sweetsie’s} is a bit more than skin deep, so to say!

My late step-dad, Larry Christy, who passed away due to complications to Diabetes was a person that nobody could forget.  He was sweet in every way and left his mark on the hearts of everyone he met.  His time with us on earth was too short.

Larry, used to call my mom “sweetsie”.  he would com up with these cockamamie ideas and one of them was to have all the young grandchildren and nieces over for an entire weekend of cookie baking and decorating.  My mom wasn’t keen on this idea as the kids do make quite a mess when baking and the clean-up was pretty much on her.

But Larry said to my mom, “Sweetsie, don’t you want to make memories?  it’s not just a mess, it’s a memory…” and so she agreed.  Little did she know just how much of a wonderful memory those cookie weekends would be for so many years to come.

My mom and Larry went to the store, bought all of the kids their own aprons, rolling pins, cookie cutters, sugar shakers, paint brushes and every other kind of cookie decorating items and edibles you could ever imagine.  they made some of the most awesome cookies anyone could ever lay their eyes on!!  Let me tell you…

Larry would sit at the table, chat with the kids, make faces, say silly things to make them all laugh, help create and give his professional opinion of how they have all made masterpieces.  My mom would watch, help out and clean up.  BUT, at the end of the long day (and we are talking about starting cookies at 7-8:00am and ending near midnight), those memories are some that each of those children will never forget and still remember to this day.  Some of “those kids” are now in their 20’s and have kids of their own.

And here I am with {Sweetsie’s}!  A special meaning to a sweet store!

I also have a special passion for helping out where it’s needed.  Since Larry suffered from Diabetes and many of my other family members and friends deal with this horrible disease, 10% of each order will be donated to The American Diabetes Association in memory of Larry Christy, my step-dad.

Please visit me often at {Sweetsie’s} and help a wonderful cause!
