Alright all, all of you know that my Shop is hosted by @Storenvy. I LOVE Storenvy. I tell everyone opening a store or looking for a change about Storenvy. Why? NO RISK.
First – lets talk about fees.
I have an Etsy store. I like Etsy fine, I’ve gotten some random foot traffic through the site which is nice – but when I list an item it’s $.20 (for a 6 month listing), then there is a fee when I sell it from Etsy, on top of the PayPal fee. Now, Etsy has a great site, lots of forums, lots of shop support which is fantastic – I understand the need to make money. Totally get it.
However, as a shop owner, when I found Storenvy I was super intrigued. WHY? Because there are NO fees outside of PayPal. I can list as many items as I want, and they stay posted for as I want. Nothing changes.
As a shop owner, I LOVE that. When I first was introduced to Storenvy, I had my Etsy and my Storenvy equally stocked, but the reality is if an item didn’t sell in it’s 6 month stint, I was out that $.20. Now, $.20 doesn’t sound like a ton, but it adds up quickly. So, over time – the more traffic I was sending to my Storenvy shop, the more it paid off, and I fully transitioned all of my traffic directing to my Storenvy store and I invest in paying for my domain to go to Storenvy.
Lets talk about other perks.
– Quantity. I mentioned above that with each item on Etsy it’s $.20. Recently Etsy has decided to allow more than one item listing for the $.20 until that Item sells then it relists and you are charge with another $.20. This was getting super tough for me, especially when I had someone wanting multiple fragrances of one type of smelly jelly. So, with Storenvy, I love that I can have as many items as I want in stock and it makes it easier for others to order as many of the items as I have in stock. I LOVE that.
–New Labels for Listings. Storenvy recently introduced a labeling system that allows you to list the items with special labels if you choose to. You can label them “On Sale” or “Pre-Order” and if you sell out of an item it says “Sold Out” on the listing, but it still allows it to be seen in the shop, which honestly I really love. From my store and other stores, I like to be able to see what stores have done in the past, and offered. It gives me a little more light on the store. The shop owner can, of course, retire the item and it won’t show up – but I feel like the added listings really help.
–Storewide Sales Codes. For added promotion of your shop, Storenvy allows you to set up a storewide code that comes up on a banner at the bottom of your page that says “USE CODE: XYZ123 to receive 15% off your order!” allowing anyone to receive that promotion if they so choose. A really great option for a little added promoting.
–Customizable Stores. Storenvy pretty much allows you to do whatever you want when it comes to the design. Personally I LOVE this. It makes your own storefront your own, and I have seen some unbelievably cool storefronts (little jealous actually!), but it’s not just a basic skinny banner that makes it your own – you get to customize it however you want. Currently it’s HTML (except for headers, and backgrounds) stuff but I know they are working on getting it very user friendly, allowing even more customizing!
Sure, Storenvy doesn’t have the same complexity of Etsy when it comes to forums/groups (they do have forums though!), treasuries, and apps – but those are all things I can see in the future coming – Storenvy is a newer storefront. And personally, although those are great editions on Etsy that I enjoy – I really love the affordability of the site and the ability to make it totally my own.
If you are worried about your listings and manually putting them back in – have no fear! Thanks to Cody over at Lu and Ed I learned today there’s an app for that. You can easily import your Etsy items over to Storenvy!
It gets better folks…
SO get this….I got an email today about Storenvy almost reaching 20,000 Stores.
Guess what happens if you help them reach 20,000 Stores? If you help Storenvy.com reach 20,000 stores, everybody wins! If they hit 20,000 launches stores by Monday they are going to give all 20,000 of the stores the Super Discounts feature free for a month! Super Discounts allows stores to hold promotions such as Free Shipping, Buy One Get One Free, %-Off and $-Off – I have them activated in my store (it is $2.99 a month to use this -awesome- extra feature) and really love having the extra options available to offer discounts to monster lovers!
So, even if you are in LOVE with your storefront – as I know there are great ones – I would genuinely recommend if you are looking at having a second storefront – or having one that is your main one in addition to what you already have to check out Storenvy. It sure won’t hurt to have more than one outlet to sell! 🙂
