As most all of your know, I have a sister who is 8…well, 8.5 as she would say.
Actually that’s a lie – now she is officially saying she is 9…even though her birthday isn’t until the very end of December.
Anyways — here are a few lessons learned after spending a weekend with this sweet {most of the time unless she is overly tired or hungry} sister of mine.
…Knotty is beautiful, and maybe slightly mystical…
…Secret Passage Ways do indeed exist, and are everywhere…
….When the older sister uses the secret entrance before she was shown what it was, it’s surprising and you get the response: “YOU found the secret entrance and used it?” like it’s unbelievable and extremely enamoring. ….
….Friendship bracelets never die….
….There are three ways to make friendship {or sister bracelets} – french braiding and knotting .. and then of course regular braiding….
….The difference between french braiding and knotting is the process (french you pull under to knot, knotting you pull over to knot) .. even though the end result is the same it constitutes different names…..
….It doesn’t matter that french braiding is something that is done to hair, or that the end result is the same- it’s french braiding because her 9 year old friend in KS said so…..
…..Camping at a place without toilet facilities built is “gross”….
…All the constitutes making a friend while camping is being bored with the adults, and another child feeling the same way, then you are best friends for the rest of the trip….
…Relaxing on a trip really isn’t a option, games must be played at all time … unless she is distracted with playing with other children….
…Playing catch with pine cones with your brother is a form of entertainment – especially when chucking them at each other’s heads comes into play….
This is an adorable post! I can’t wait for my daughter to grow up and reach this age now 🙂

Your sister’s a very nice looking young lady, Kristina, and I’m glad you shared this camping and bonding experience with her. I wonder how many more years it will be before she stops adding a year to her age and starts subtracting them! 🙂
What a little cutie. And what a great big sister. She’s the same age as Destini. Will be nine in late November. I can’t wait to see them and experience this new fun age. You are just precious Kristina! Hugs.
Cute! Your sis is adorable. I remember making friendship bracelets… how fun that kids still do that. Looks beautiful wherever you are.
I think we could all benefit from seeing life through the eyes of an eight (almost nine!) year old from time to time.
Hi Kristina. Your little sister is so cute! That’s lovely that you went on this trip together. I’m sure she will always remember that. You’re obviously a lovely big sis!!
Love this post it was great and I agree camping with toilet facilities is gross…..
