Throughout my life, I have heroes of all sorts. For instance – when I had my heart surgery family friend, Leo stepped up and donated blood, and so did Mary, a long time family friend, the family woman who didn’t weigh enough to donate blood and went home put weights on her ankles and threw on a pair of sweats so she could help save my life. Or the cardiologist that went above the odds and saved my life.
Then the times my parents came to the rescue, or friends.
But there is one special hero that came into my life, in 2004, and then in 2006 I knew was a permanent fixture in my life.
Ryan. My Husband.
But to me-he is all of those things and so much more. This hardworking, good looking charmer is my husband, and best friend. And the best part – he is an amazing husband and a great best friend.
This man is selfless, patient {most of the time!}, and encouraging. On the days I feel low & defeated – he is there to pick me up and encourage me. On my happy days he rejoices with me, and on my weakest days he is there to cradle me & my emotions.
And to me – he’s the best kind of hero. And one day he will be more than just my hero.
If you describe Ryan as “good looking and a charmer, great cook and hard worker,” then you are not describing the “average guy.” He’s way above average when you look at our society’s male population. I continue to envy what you have found in him and what he has found in you. I will tell you for the hundredth time, my friend, that it is very rare.
Absolutely lovely post my friend. How wonderful to have special friends like that, and even more wonderful to have a lovely husband like Ryan. I totally agree with Shady – it is pretty rare. I hope that your very own ‘hero’ will always be there for you.
I am smiling from ear to ear my dear! This makes me so happy for you guys. Embrace the love. It sounds just like what I had.
That’s so sweet! I LOVE love 😉
