While We Are Moving : Southhamsdarling

You are all in for a real treat today. My lovely friend, thisisme from Southhamsdarling , has agreed to spend the day with you ! I have been following her for many months and just adore her. She is the sweetest. Her daughter just got married a few weeks ago and she shared so many lovely photos with us – her daughter got married in a Castle. Yep. Legit. Enough, about how much I love her – enjoy this post then hop over and enjoy her! You won’t regret it!!

“Yay! My First Ever Guest Post (and probably my last!!!)”

Hi there! I am thisisme from Southhamsdarling, and I have been blogging for almost eight months. This is the very first time that I have been asked to be a guest blogger, and I feel honoured and apprehensive at the same time, if that makes any sense!!

I can only hope that I don’t frighten all Kristina’s Followers away. I can just imagine them all heading for the hills, even as I type this little post! I would like to start by talking a little about Kristina, as I have always found her to be a generous, caring, encouraging and supportive bloggy friend. She was generous enough to send me a little giveaway that she had hand created herself and, when I was quite poorly with Pleurisy back at the beginning of the year, she devoted a whole post about me. That brightened my day so much when I really needed it.
At the moment, Kristina is shoulder high in packing boxes and feeling a little stressed out from time to time about the impending move, so I know that all her Followers will be sending lots of positive vibes her way, and hoping that everything works out well for her and her dear hubby.
I have come up with a couple of quotations about being a guest:
“Visits always give pleasure – if not the arrival, the departure!” – Portugese Proverb. (That will probably be how you feel about me then. Hee Hee!!).
“To be an agreeable guest, one need only to enjoy oneself”. (so that is what I am going to try to do! Mind you, a nice chilled glass of wine would help, but as it ‘s only 10 a.m. I guess I’d better not!).
I am lucky enough to live in the South Hams, which is one of the most beautiful parts of the County of Devon, here in England. We have the sea on one side of us, and the Moors on the other side. I find that the Moors can be a bit depressing, but I absolutely love walking by the sea. It can always lift my spirits and make me realize how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful part of the world! I thought I would post a few pictures, so that you can see just how beautiful this area is.
Devon is full of little villages with quaint thatched cottages.
The hills of Devon really do roll right down to the sea.
I hope that these photos have given you a little taster of where I live. Here in Devon, we are famous for our Cream Teas (scones, with strawberry jam and Devon clotted cream!). I wish we could all share a cream tea together right now. I know you’d be coming back for more!
Yummy!
Apparently, the art of being a good guest, is knowing when to leave, so on that note I will love you and leave you. It has been a real pleasure for me to meet you all, and I hope that, if you have the time, you will pop over to see me sometime. With warmest wishes.

Pleased to meet you, Thisisme! 🙂

I marvel whenever you show us pictures of the natural beauty that surrounds you there in South Hams. It just so happens that I saw a program about the Moors on the Smithsonian Channel a few days ago. When they showed a map detailing the location of the Moors I knew at once that it was an area east of where my dear friend Thisisme lives. The program sought to explain why people down through history have had a fear of the dark. It pointed out that the Moors is one of the few spots left on earth that is remote enough (far enough away from city lights) to experience almost complete darkness at night. It explained that centuries ago people dreaded venturing into the Moors at night because of its wild, rugged, and hazardous terrain and the possibility that highway robbers lurked there. It was so dark in the Moors at night that it was rather easy for a traveler to get lost, injured or killed.

Your words, pictures and charming personality always delight me, dear Thisisme, and I hope that today’s guest appearance garners new followers for your fine blog!

This…As always, your post brings us a bit of sunshine, a bit of English history and great pictures. I have been your #1 fan (sorry Kristina but I think it’s me) haha. You did a great guest post and if you don’t gain new followers I’d be really shocked. Hugs This and Kristina I hope the move is going smoothly.
