Today is World Day Against Trafficking. Since I learned the depth of this heartbreaking reality months ago and that the US is the capital of human trafficking, it’s weighed heavily on my heart. Part of it is being a compassionate human, the other part is being a parent not being able to fathom a child going through what countless children do every single day. Today, as I shared a lot of awareness in my stories, I could not help but constantly think of the children that would give anything … [Read more...]

We can’t raise them like the world.
The past couple months I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the world we’re raising our children up in right now. The chaos, the turmoil, the government overreach. Sometimes I let my mind entertain fear but instead flip it on its head and choose faith. I lean into the appreciation that my eyes were opened to a lot of things in the last few years. The more I dug, the more I learned, the more my eyes opened in ways I never imagined and my heart broke over a lot of things. I learned the … [Read more...]
We landed in TX for a reason.
My heart overflowed with joy tonight. The sounds of their shrieks and giggles of pure joy could have lit up the whole city tonight when we surprised them with a trip to the park. The parks reopened here this week and we made sure to go tonight. The kids needed the normalcy and reminder that the past couple months isn’t the “new normal”..The park had many kids and families playing fearlessly amongst one another with warm smiles, waves, and conversations. My heart swelled with hope that soon we’ll … [Read more...]
When it feels wrong…choose another route.
Thankful. Thankful for fresh air, vitamin D from the sunshine and that these are my people I get to do life with.I found myself frustrated yesterday morning when our initial plans for the day went array. The “new normal” of lately is new territory and a slippery slope. Our kids are watching the choices we make within it. We had planned to head to our state park that reopened in the last week or so. We grabbed a pass then read the rules. Rules like - everyone must wear a mask on the … [Read more...]
I hope we can find the good.
I was laying in bed last night thinking all about everything going on right now. Everything is a bit chaotic for everyone now. There’s uncertainly, there are theories, there are lives that feel completely upside down right now. We’ve stepped into something that’s pretty much uncharted territory and I’m not sure many know what to think or feel. But my hope is once we’re on the other side of this we’ll be able to find some good from it all too. I hope we can look back at the time we stayed in … [Read more...]
