If you are anything like us, you’ve found yourself with too many toys that simply take up space and never get played with. It’s easy to accumulate a lot of toys that serve no real purpose in your home other than they were gifted and forgotten. I’m especially over toys that a) consume an insane amount of batteries – even worse if they aren’t AA or AAA. b) are stuffed animals that have no sentimental meaning and C) don’t stimulate a child’s own imagination.
Six years and three kids into this motherhood journey, I want toys that last a long time, have a purpose, and don’t need a constantly slew of batteries to even function. I’m certain there are other parents reading this knifing their heads in agreement. The good news is I’ve found a toy line I think we’ll all agree we can get behind.
A couple of weeks ago, I shared the TOMY Toomies Pirate Boat Bath Toy. It was a hit in our house. Thanks to TOMY, we’ve had the opportunity to try out three new Toomies toys recently ranging from 9+ months – 18+ months. Spoiler alert: they all function beautifully with purpose without batteries. Jackpot!

Toomies Pop & Hatch
The Toomies Pop and Hatch toys features an adorable mama bird and her baby. The mama bird can be pulled backwards and released to zoom forward or her head can be pressed for the same movement. Once in motion, the stroller holds the egg and shakes back and forth. During the course of the “ride” the egg tips out and the baby bird peeks out.
This toy is not only cute but cultivates a fun environment for anticipation of when the egg might tip out. It also encourages hand and eye coordination by putting the baby back inside the stroller. My son loves to chase the mama bird and she zooms off. Role play is also integrated into the play time when discussing the mama and baby.
The Pop and Hatch Toomies toy is recommended for ages 9+ month and creates intentional fun and developmental opportunities. You can grab yours online at Target.com for $11.99 It’s been a toy filled with hours of fun and giggles at our house!

Toomies Flappee Stackees
The Toomies Flappy Stackies are ridiculously adorable and are easily one of my favorite toys. This toy features an elephant and a bird riding on a car. The car call be pulled backward to zoom forward or pressed down on to move forward. The elephant and bird can stack together in any order making the toy very versatile and non-constricting.
When you press the button on top of their heads it moves the connected pieces making this toy a lot of fun! You can have them all move together on top of the car, or build them off of the car and make them move.
Stacking them on top of the car and pressing down creates a balancing game. Can you stack them all they way up and it not fall over? It’s a fun challenge for the older kids but it’s components make it super fun for any age.
Developmental components of this toy include:
- role playing with the animals
- cause and effect of pressing the buttons to make the other features move.
- Coordination of stacking the items
- Anticipating and cause and effect of the car moving forward – will they tip over?!
- Movement – the chase factor of following the car
The suggested age is 18+ months but I can say with confidence that our 10+ loves this toy. As adults, we can even say we’ve enjoy playing with this and the anticipation factor of trying to keep them from tipping off the car as it moves! You can grab yours at Target.com for $19.99.
Toomies Sort & Pop Spinning UFO
The Toomies Sort & Pop Spinning UFO is a lot of fun for your little ones. It’s rates at 10+ months and overs a lot of developmental components that will keep your little one entertained. The cute alien UFO comes with 5 shapes of various colors.
Developmental components giving hours of play. With this toy your child will engage in shape identification, color matching, shape matching, and the cause and effect pressing down followed by it spinning and popping out the shapes. The anticipation of this toy is fun for everyone!
It’s design is basic and intuitive making it fun and easy for your little ones to enjoy. The thrill of how interactive it is, without sounds & batteries make for a fun activity that helps you teach your child alongside your own imagination and theirs! You can grab yours for $16.99 at Target.com
Closing thoughts.

In a time where the toys seems to take the lead of imagination, I can say with confidence that these toys are some of our favorites. The developmental components of these toys add to the benefit and fun of these toys allowing the child to learn seamlessly through play.
