Thank a Teacher with Crayola

Gratitude is something we put a lot of value in as a family. Our children are required to say please and thank you – all day, every day. This rules applies when we are home but it also applies even more when we are out and about. A simple thank you can make a big difference in someone’s day. It means a lot to be appreciated in even the smallest ways.

It’s sometimes easy to forget to thank the people we see the most because we just get used to the role they play in our loves and what that entails. Sometimes it’s the people in our families. Another great example of this is teachers. Teachers do an incredible job every day teaching the next generation, spending so much time during the day, as well as, their own time and resources to help our kids. I’m going to go as a far as saying that I’m not sure they get a fraction of the “thank you”s they deserve.

Crayola has created the Thank a Teacher campaign.  It’s their goal to get 1,000,000 “Thank You” submissions for teachers all over the US. That’s a MILLION Teachers being told they are appreciated! Talk about an incredible impact.

To contribute to the campaign, create a thank you card for a special teacher in your world and upload it to www.Crayola.com/ThankATeacher for a chance to win grand prizes for your family, teacher, and school!  Per the rules, the Nominee must be an active, full or part-time teacher employed at a public, private or charter school at the elementary, middle, junior or high school level within the 50 US & DC. You can check out full terms here.

Ten grand prize packs will be awarded, inclusive of:

  • $10,000 classroom makeover for the teacher
  • One year supply of Crayola products for the school
  • $1,000 scholarship for the student
  • $1,000 gift card for both the teacher and school
  • Free CreatEd seminar for the school

In addition to the grand prizes, one lucky entrant will have his or her thank you note featured on a special pack of Crayola crayons this holiday. There is also a weekly sweepstakes will run concurrently with the contest. It offering entrants a chance to win $500 gift cards for themselves and their teachers. The contest and sweepstakes will run through August 25, 2018.

How generous is this campaign?!

I really love this campaign because I had some really great teachers growing up that impacted my life. I’m still grateful them for today. I remember going back to them after being in their classes and telling them how much I appreciated them. Teachers have a hard job and a lot lies in their hands in shaping children long after they’ve left their classrooms. I always loved the teachers that pushed me to do better and didn’t let me only settle at part of my potential. These teachers always appreciated me taking the time to say how much of an impact they made for me.  I can think of two off the top of my head I loved dearly: Mrs. Riley and Mrs. Berry.

If you are a fellow homeschool family, I want to encourage you to take the time to write a special thank you note to someone who is a teacher in your life. Yes, you can’t technically submit to this contest but that’s not the heart of the matter. Contest aside, there is such value in a simple “thank you and I appreciate you” gesture. Make it a fun activity to challenge your child to think of a teacher role model in their life and make a thank you!

Saying Thank You is Easy

Crayola has made saying thank you super easy right on their website. They have printable thank you print outs, craft ideas with instructions, and even suggestions for some gifts to buy as a thank you! You aren’t required to use their suggestions, you can create your own thank you note just the same. Then, make sure you submit it to Crayola and share it online for all to see!

What do you think? Can we help Crayola get to their goal of 1,000,000 Thank Yous?! Who’s a teacher that has made a big impact in your life or your child’s?!

The supplies in today’s post were supplied by Crayola.
