February’s Trip to the Butterfly Pavillion

As much as the city life here in Denver drives me a bit looney most of the time, one thing I cannot discredit is how much there is to do as a family. In February we headed to the Butterfly Pavilion – one Saturday afternoon – as it was $5 day. Let me first start by saying – we won’t be doing that again, the chaos of the place on that day isn’t worth paying half price, it’s really just not.  Parking was nearly impossible, many visitors were rude and it was just plain busy. Those details aside though, we made a good day of it.

We ate at Bonefish Grill for lunch and then A fell asleep and we napped in the car for an hour before we hit the Butterfly Pavilion, it was a good thing she was rested because she had so much more fun that way.  We discovered so many bugs and Ryan & I both held Rosey the Tarantula .  Since A is under 3 she couldn’t touch her but we were able to let her get close enough to see her up close. She discovered some fish and touched a Starfish too.

She absolutely loved being in the Butterfly portion, watching all of the butterflies fluttering by and smelling the flowers. This sweet girl loves to stop and smell the flowers, she scrunches her little nose and it’s pretty much the cutest thing ever.

At the end we let A play in the kids area and hit up the gift shop. We came home with a new book – A LOVES books – a new puzzle and a popper toy. Ha. It was a nice outting for our little family that I think we all enjoyed. I’m not sure A fully grasped the trip but she enjoyed herself which was worth it for us. Ryan and I had been a couple of times in previous years so it was so great to take her with us to enjoy the trip too.   I can see us going once a year and watching how each year her experience changes. Although, Ryan and I both agreed..it won’t be on a discount day ever again. Ha.
