I’m usually the one that is the one who is there to swoop in and help out whether is design work, business tools, etc which naturally makes me used to being in control and making sure things are done right. I have had countless emails in my inbox asking how to do things or asking me to create or do something last minute for countless contacts of mine. It’s what I’m used to whether its design, business, blogging or what not. I’ve been a business virtual assistant since 2007 and I have loved every minute of it, and the past couple years I have been doing more and more in the business world with design, blogging, etc.
Well this year, the closer and closer it got to getting having A, I had most of my business client work wrapped up but the blog, and the A-List still had plenty of things that I do because even when business is slow, those two things are constantly going. That’s when Cassie from Cassie’s Virtual Assisting entered the picture.
Being used to being the one in control, being the one “saving the day”, I had a hard time wrapping my head around letting anyone else take on some of my tasks. I knew what all I had on my plate. Posts, promotional tweets, building the holiday gift guides and keeping up with endless other things. I knew I had more than I could probably get done without going crazy.
So, as hard as it was I handed over some tasks to Cassie, who started being a virtual assistant for bloggers earlier this year. Handing over control was the toughest thing for me, after all, a virtual assistant having a virtual assistant?? But I did it.
And know what I found? Cassie didn’t let me down, I found how she did things was very similar to me – quick and efficient, always wanting to get things done as soon as she could way before deadlines. It was like I was having another me working on things for me. Score!!
So thanks to Cassie, I felt like I could take off two weeks when I had A, without feeling like I had things I needed to get done. It. Felt. Amazing.
Not only did I gain and second set of hands, I can say I’ve also gained a good friend. Double Score!!
