This note is on the dry erase board just over my desk in my office for the week.
But why? Do I have to remember to tell a certain someone thank you for something in particular?
Not exactly – but I do have people to thank. A lot of people in fact, but we will get to that in a minute.
What is this note about, and why is it up just for the rest of the week?
Remember when I introduced you to Seven Day Push on this post?
This week’s challenge is simple : Say Thank You!
So simple, yet so important!
How easy is it to forget to thank people?
I thank people all of the time, when they open the doors, when the waitress brings me my food, etc. etc.
But going a little deeper…
it’s hard to remember to say thank you about the big things, the things that seem so minimal in that moment.
Like when I thanked Ryan for helping me Friday night for our big event Saturday when he was up way later than he wanted to be because I waited until the last minute to get things done.
I told him thank you, sincerely about 10 times that night telling him I appreciate him, and even though he was irritated that I waited until the last minute then scrambled, that he was so helpful, running to end supplies we ran out of, etc.
So thank you was already on my mind then I received this challenge in my inbox and it was perfect.
Funny how things work right?
So, I started thinking more.
Thinking about the people that could use a thank you even though the task is simple, or you brush it off because you are bitter at them for their previous actions.
It’s so easy to forget.
Just like I don’t ever thank my brother for sending me an adorable picture of my niece, but I should.
I should thank him for thinking of me, even though I don’t agree with a lot of decisions he has been making.
Thanking a friend, like Candy, who has sat there and listened so many times when I am burnt out and frustrated about being a business owner, or the blow it can take to our finances when things are slow, or just letting me vent about life, etc.
Although we exchange these moments frequently venting to one another – that deserves a thank you.
That’s a big one for me.
He always knows the desires of our hearts, and our needs and even when we don’t think that he is listening He is. It happens all of the time, when I’m questioning if I’m following the right path, and then a moment happens that makes me realize I am. Or when money is tight, tensions are high in our house, and Ryan walks down the stairs and says “God fixed everything. (proceeding to tell me that this and this happened and we have some wiggle room)”
Although those are some pretty big things, I need to thank every single one of you who read my blog.
Who take the moment to comment on a post, that take that moment to just listen.
Because I appreciate you. I appreciate every single one of you for being here, becoming my friend as so many of you have – and just being you.
So Thank You.
