Banana Bread. One of my favorite past times. A comfort food really. I remember my mom making banana bread when I was growing up and the smell filling the house. The way the butter would melt from the fresh warm bread out of the oven.
Making this recipe takes me back to so many good memories and I’m so excited to share it with you today.
Banana Nut Bread
3-4 Ripe Bananas
1 c. Sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda – dissolved in 1 Tbsp hot water
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. nuts
Mash bananas with 1 c. Sugar and let stand for 15 minutes.
Mix together dry ingredients
Dissolve 1 tsp of baking soda in 1 Tbsp of hot water. (I do this in a ramekin).
