Last night I took the dogs out about 10, their last trip out before bed. Normally I open the door, shoo them into the yard and come back a few moments later to let them in.
But last night I went out with them and stood on the deck while they went out and I took in the beautiful weather that was almost too cool for the tank top and I listened.
I listened and took it all in.
The sounds of cheering fans down the road at the ball fields,
the sounds of creaking screen doors and porch swings,
And the quiet hum of the air conditioners.
I watched the gentle glow of the lightning bugs in the yard,
Swatted at the occasional Mosquito,
I gazed into the night sky enjoying the stars and the moon hanging so perfect and full in the sky.
The I closed my eyes and soaked it up.
Took it all in.
And in that moment,
there was so stress, there were no burdens.
It was just me and this big world filling up with the fabulousness of summer.
And that 15 minutes was exactly what I needed.
